Hello,

I have a fully php based website which uses session management since a long time. However, I had purchased web hosting from a company to set it up. Now that it is setup and growing,my web hosting company doesn't want me anymore before of high bandwidth usage etc...

I want to setup a server from home. I have resources, a good internet connection and intermediate understanding of php and mysql as well. However, I do not know how to get started on creating the server in terms of hardware (hard drives, ram etc) and software (apache, IIS etc). I would like to use this server solely for sharing files on BT network.

I need your help in getting started, and a step by step or simple guide to installing and configuring a server for bt sharing would be really appreciated.

Thank you in advance....

well it all depends on yu realy and what you are going to be using it for.
well your ISP allow for you to run a server.
You want to be careful about what you host for torrents them self are not elligal but if you have copy right matrille then you are opening your self up to a hole host of trouble.
If all this is O.K. and you stell want to go forth then
you want 2.4 ~ 3.2 ghz cpu
you would want a 80 ~ 300 gig HD
you want 512 mb ~ 1024 mb ram
then you want some sort of controle panel (directadmin or cpannel)
and you well need a mail server.
you well need a operating system (linux or windows)
If you are going to run phpMyBitTorrent the you well want to run php 4.4.4
Apache 1.3.34
DirectAdmin 1.28.3
Exim 4.52
MySQL 4.1.12
Named 9.3.1
ProFTPd 1.2.10
sshd
vm-Pop3d 1.1.7f-DA-2

usually the main problem with running your website from a home server is limited upstream bandwidth. if your host kicked you because of high bandwidth usage, your home bandwidth probably won't suffice..

However you need to setup a server name and basic configuration of apache server and the website you are going to run on it..
